Llinn truck model

While trying to decide what model to build next I have constructed a kit I have had for a long time.  It is a Linn truck or more appropriately a Linn tractor.  I have very few kits left in my inventory - all vehicles of some type.

This kit by Rio Grande Models is composed of many detailed cast metal parts. These cast metal vehicle kits are tedious to build but usually result in nice models.

I believe these trucks/tractors were mostly used for logging due to the poor roads in the woods.

I have now decided on my next structure model so I need to do some research on the prototypes and make some sketches.

Rubber stamp company complete

I have completed the rubber stamp company.  I added a scenery base under it to allow scenic effects and details to be added around the base of the structure.  The base was made using a section of card stock file folder.  The structure is made almost entirely from wood except the windows and doors.

The front of the structure is the office and sales center and the rear part is where the stamps are made and the supplies are stored.  On the left side of the office wall is a poster showing some of the types of rubber stamps the company makes.

The small shed at the rear contains a boiler to provide heat to melt the rubber for the molds.  The boiler is coal fired so there is a coal bin next to the shed.

The view above shows the rear entrance/exit and the various details I added.

Once more I need to come up with an idea for my next model.

Rubber stamp company start

My next model is a rubber stamp company.  They create rubber stamps for many purposes including post office stamps, business stamps and many other uses.  In the early days of the post office each P.O. had a stamp to identify where the item was posted.  Today that is done by machines.  The model start shows the office with one wall of the "factory" behind it.

There is still a lot of work to be done.  The office is where buyers order their stamps and has displays of example stamps.

I have several stamps I have collected over the years, some are post office stamps, some are for railroads, some are stamps I had made for my Railroad Industry SIG, and there are a variety of other things.  My father had some stamps made for his model railroad.

Vinegar company complete

The vinegar company is now complete.  The final details were the most time consuming.  The front view shows the steps and the porch.  The figure at the top of the steps was strange so I made modifications including a hat brim made from paper.  The bench on the porch is an SS ltd kit which as usual was painful to build as small as it is.

I placed a number of signs around the base of the building to add color.  On the roof to the right is a bird - not sure what kind.

Above is the truck loading dock side with various details and a bulletin board.  The smoke stack at the right was made from a plastic kit sprue.  I have a box of sprues which come in handy for various details.

Above is a view of the back of the structure showing the small raised platform and the indent in the roof above the platform with a pipe to fill the tank and a motor to operate it.

Once more I need to come up with an idea for the next model.
